Interesting fact: British psychologist Geoffrey Gavin conducted a study in which young people aged 19-26 years old who registered on dating sites took part. As a result, 72% of users continued to communicate offline.

Based on the data obtained, the researchers managed to create a typical portrait of a person who uses an online dating site. Its main characteristics are:
- male 33-34 years old;
- works full-time;
- probably, this is an ordinary manager or a niche employee — a teacher, a researcher, an engineer.
Researchers also point out that about 10-11% of users are businessmen or heads of firms.
Why people are interested in online dating
Kaspersky Lab and B2B International, mentioned above, have established that finding a person for a serious relationship is far from the first thing that people register for on dating platforms. Goal statistics show the following:
- for entertainment — 48%;
- to find new friends-41%;
- just to have a good time — 24%;
- to find a match-19%;
- for sex-13%;
- to get married and start a family — 11%.
About 5% of respondents said that they registered on dating sites to check if their partner was cheating on them. 4% were undecided, and 12% chose not to answer the question at all.
The same survey found that more than 50% of people write or tell lies about themselves. Of this number, 67% are men who are already married.
Match Group reports that right now there are at least 600 million singles in the world who have free access to the Network. But at the same time, 400 million of them have never used dating sites or apps. Analysts predict that this number will constantly decrease.
Who most often uses dating services
According to statistics, the main group of users of such resources is millennials. That is, people born between 1881 and 1996. They were the first generation most involved in digital technologies.
Kaspersky Lab reports that more than 40% of people aged 25-34 use online dating services. Tinder provides similar statistics, in which 85% of the service’s users are 18-24-year-olds. At the same time, many analytical resources report relatively rapid growth in the adult and even elderly audience.
